Persekitaran Bahasa dan Keterlibatan Pelajar SABK Selangor Dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab (Language Environment and Student Engagement among SABK Selangor Students in Learning Arabic)

Abstract


Persekitaran bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa asing dalam kajian ini adalah melalui komponen psikososial iaitu elemen kesepaduan pelajar, sokongan guru, penglibatan pelajar, sikap pelajar berorientasikan tugasan, kerjasama antara pelajar dan layanan adil guru. Pembelajaran bahasa Arab yang tidak kondusif ditambah dengan penglibatan murid yang tidak aktif menjadikan pembelajaran bahasa Arab secara komunikatif tidak dapat diperkasakan.Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti tahap persekitaran bahasa dalam kalangan pelajar dan keterlibatan mereka dalam menggunakan bahasa Arab.  Kajian ini juga melihat hubungan persekitaran bahasa Arab dan keterlibatan pelajar menggunakan bahasa Arab di dalam kelas dan juga di luar kelas. Seramai 331 daripada 2400 orang pelajar tingkatan empat di Sekolah Agama Bantuan Kerajaan (SABK) di negeri Selangor dipilih sebagai sampel kajian. Kajian kuantitatif ini menerusi kaedah tinjauan menggunakan instrumen soal selidik yang diadaptasi dan diubah suai daripada kajian lepas. Analisis data deskriptif dan inferensi kajian ini menggunakan perisian IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) versi 23. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan persekitaran bahasa dalam kalangan pelajar berada pada tahap sederhana tinggi (min= 3.87, sisihan piawai= 0.50). Bagi tahap keterlibatan pelajar dalam menggunakan bahasa Arab berada pada tahap sederhana tinggi (min= 3.40, sisihan piawai= 0.59). Ujian korelasi Pearson pula menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dengan kekuatan positif antara persekitaran bahasa dan keterlibatan pelajar menggunakan bahasa Arab (r=0.65). Dapatan kajian ini membuktikan bahawa pelajar SABK di Selangor mempunyai persekitaran bahasa yang membantu penglibatan pelajar dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab walupun didapati kurang mempraktikkan penggunaan bahasa Arab di luar waktu pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Kajian ini berkepentingan kepada KPM agar dapat merangka dan merancang aktiviti yang mendorong keterlibatan pelajar menggunakan bahasa Arab dalam meningkatkan penguasaan pembelajaran bahasa Arab dalam kalangan pelajar.

Abstract

The Arabic language environment that we will look in this study is through psychosocial components that are elements of student integration, teacher support, student involvement, task -oriented student attitudes, cooperation between students and fair treatment of teachers. Unconducive Arabic language learning coupled with inactive student involvement makes communicative Arabic language learning unassailable. This study aims to identify the level of language environment among students and their engagement in using Arabic and also looked at the relationship of the Arabic language environment and student engagement in using Arabic in the classroom and outside the classroom. A total of 331 out of 2400 Form Four Government-Aided Religious School (SABK) students in Selangor were selected as the study sample. This quantitative study is through a survey method using a questionnaire instrument adapted and modified from previous researchers. Descriptive and inferential data analysis of this study using IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23. The findings showed that the language environment among students is at a moderately high level (mean = 3.87, standard deviation = 0.50). Furthermore, the level of student engagement in using Arabic was at a moderately high level (mean = 3.40, standard deviation = 0.59). The Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a significant relationship with positive strength between the language environment with the engagement of students using Arabic (r=0.65). The findings of this study explain that SABK students in Selangor have a language environment that helps students' involvement in learning Arabic even though it was found that they do not practice the use of Arabic outside of teaching and learning. This study is important to the MOE to be able to design and plan activities that encourage the involvement of students in using Arabic in improving the mastery of Arabic language learning among students.
