Keperluan dan Rangka Model Kaunseling Islam bagi Mahasiswa Universiti: Satu Analisis Kualitatif (The Needs and Framework of Islamic Counseling Models for University Students: A Qualitative Analysis)
Abstract
Mahasiswa universiti tidak terlepas daripada berhadapan isu kesihatan mental. Oleh itu, perkhidmatan kaunseling universiti disediakan untuk membantu mereka mengatasi masalah ini. Walau bagaimanapun, pendekatan kaunseling yang digunakan hari ini kebanyakannya adalah kaunseling konvensional yang didapati mempunyai kekurangan dari aspek pembangunan rohani mahasiswa Muslim. Justeru, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti keperluan dan kepentingan model kaunseling Islam, mengenal pasti sumber rujukan asas dalam pembangunan model serta menganalisis elemen-elemen utama bagi pembinaan rangka model tersebut. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif dengan reka bentuk tinjauan. Empat universiti Islam di Semenanjung Malaysia dipilih sebagai sampel. Data dikumpul melalui temu bual separa berstruktur dengan kaunselor universiti. Hasil temu bual dianalisis secara tematik dan menghasilkan tiga kesimpulan utama iaitu (i) terdapat keperluan pembangunan model kaunseling Islam di universiti, (ii) rujukan bagi model ini ialah al-Quran, sunnah dan psikologi Islam, dan (iii) elemen utama bagi kerangka model ini adalah peranan kaunselor dan penerapan nilai-nilai Islam dalam pendekatan kaunseling. Peranan kaunselor meliputi ihsan, amanah, pengetahuan agama, kepercayaan klien, kesediaan mendengar dan komited. Manakala pendekatan kaunseling yang dicadangkan sebagai rangka asas kepada model ini adalah penerapan nilai Islam seperti bacaan basmalah, penggunaan nas berkaitan masalah psikologi dan intervensinya, aplikasi pendekatan al-Ghazali dan intervensi berasaskan kepada ujian psikologi. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi asas kepada penerokaan dan pembangunan model kaunseling Islam untuk diaplikasikan oleh kaunselor universiti dalam membantu mahasiswa Muslim.

Abstract: University students frequently encounter mental health challenges. Consequently, university counseling services are established to mitigate these issues. However, contemporary counseling practices predominantly rely on conventional approaches, which exhibit limitations in addressing the spiritual dimension of Muslim student well-being. This study aimed to: (1) determine the necessity and significance of Islamic counseling models; (2) identify foundational reference sources for model development; and (3) analyze key elements for framework construction. Employing a qualitative survey design, data were gathered from semi-structured interviews with counselors at four Islamic universities in Peninsular Malaysia. Thematic analysis of the interview transcripts yielded three primary findings: (i) a need exists for the development of Islamic value-based counseling models within university settings; (ii) the al-Quran, Sunnah, and Islamic psychology constitute the core reference sources for such models; and (iii) the counselor's role and the integration of Islamic values within counseling approaches are crucial framework components. The counselor's role was identified as encompassing ihsan (integrity), amanah (trustworthiness), religious knowledge, client trust, active listening, and commitment. Proposed counseling approaches, forming the model's foundational framework, include the application of Islamic principles (e.g., basmalah), the utilization of relevant Islamic texts for psychological issues and interventions, the incorporation of al-Ghazali's methodology, and the integration of psychological testing. This study seeks to provide a foundational basis for the exploration and development of Islamic value-based counseling models, applicable to university counselors assisting Muslim students.
