SPECIAL SECTION
Abstract
SPECIAL SECTION This special section brings together four articles within the scope of research in language and linguistics. In the first article, the authors look at promotional materials of illegal investment scams to shed more light on fraudulent schemes’ use of language. In the second article, the authors examine resumes by looking at functions of language to identify social intelligence. In the third article, the authors look at academic writing which centres on the use of exemplification by Chinese and English native authors in research articles. The final article, which is also on academic writing, focuses on the use of reported verbs as a major concern for novice writers when using citations. These four articles showcase current research to highlight how language works and how humans communicate in an ever changing and challenging world.Downloads
