Keterlibatan penduduk lokal dalam pembangunan pertanian: Kajian kes di Daerah Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan (Engaging local community in development: An agriculture case study of Kuala Pilah District, Negeri Sembilan)

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk meneliti keterlibatan kominiti dalam pembangunan pertanian mampan. Kesedaran dan
keperluan untuk memahami “apa” dan “apa yang seharusnya” memerlukan keterlibatan kedua-dua belah pihak sama ada komuniti dan agensi. Metod kajian dilakukan dikawasan pertanian Kuala Pilah telah melibatkan 60 orang responden. Pengaruh keterlibatan diteliti dengan menggunakan analisa kolerasi. Hasil analisis mendapati taraf pendidikan yang rendah telah menyebabkan keterlibatan komuniti local dalam pembangunan pertanian berada pada tahap yang rendah. Sehubungan itu, hasil kajian mencadangkan agar pihak agensi memainkan peranan yang lebih proaktif bagi mewujudkan kefahaman petani dikawasan kajian berhubung dengan amalan pembangunan pertanian mampan.

Meaningful development benefits all stakeholders and this includes menbers of the local community. Local
participation, therefore, is at the heart of a nation’s development as the viability and sustainability of development projects require the recognition of local participation in determining their specific goals and mechanisms. This article examines the involvement of a local community in sustainable agricultural development in the Kuala Pilah district of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, based on findings from the field interviews of 60 respondents . Results of the correlation analysis reveal a low level of local community involvement due to the locals’ low level of education with respect to sustainable agriculture development. It is suggested that the development agencies play a more proactive role in educating local farmers with regard to the practices of sustainable agriculture development.
