Wacana pemikiran techno cities tentang bandar pengetahuan (Thinking about Knowledge City - A Techno City discourse)

Abstract

Artikel ini adalah suatu wacana tentang pemikiran techno cities bandar pengetahuan dalam era pasca bandar pintar. Era bandar pintar yang mementingkan maklumat bagi kemajuan komersial dalam konteks pembangunan bandar abad ke-21 telah berlalu. Kini pemikiran techno cities lebih menekankan ilmu pengetahuan bernilai yang berteraskan moral dan etika. Pemikiran techno cities merupakan pencetus kepada kelahiran masyarakat minda kelas pertama di bandar pengetahuan dalam konteks 1 Malaysia. Makalah ini bertujuan membincangkan teori dan pemikiran techno cities dalam konteks masyarakat berilmu pengetahuan di bandar ilmu dengan rujukan khusus kepada Bandar Baru Bangi. Pemikiran techno cities dibincang berdasarkan kepada perbahasan tentang tiga epistemologi utama, iaitu moden, pasca moden dan Islam di samping menyorot kepelbagaian yang wujud dari sudut ontologi tesis, anti tesis dan sintesis. Pemikiran techno cities masyarakat di bandar pengetahuan umumnya bersifat pelbagai dimensi. Kini, pemikiran tersebut telah memecah tembok pemikiran modenisasi, malah menjadi pengkritik idea modenisasi itu sendiri. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa komuniti di BBB mengetahui tentang konsep bandar ilmu. Namun pemikiran techno cities mereka rata-rata pada tahap sederhana sahaja. Dari segi amalan, komuniti bandar ilmu masih pada tahap permulaan dan wajar ditingkatkan.

The present article is a discourse on techno cities’ view of knowledge city in the post smart city period. The smart city era emphasized on the importance of information for the advancement of urban commercial development of the 21st century. Today, techno cities’ theory is multi dimensional and emphasizes the importance of valuable knowledge which is based on moral and ethics. Such understanding has managed to overcome the barrier of modernization and eventually become the main critic of the idea of modernization itself. In Malaysia, recent techno cities’ thought triggers the birth of a first class community of knowledge cities within the context of 1Malaysia. This paper discusses the theory of techno cities within the context of a knowledge city with special reference to Bandar Baru Bangi (BBB). From the pluralist perspectives of thesis, anti-thesis and synthesis the discussion highlights three main epistemological debates of modern, post modern and Islamic perspectives. The study found that the BBB community knew about the concept of knowledge city. However the level of their techno cities’ thought was a moderate one. In terms of practice, the BBB community was still at the beginning stage and this should upgrade.
