Wanita bekerja dan pengurusan keluarga (Working women and the management of family)
Abstract
Wanita bekerja sering menghadapi dilema dalam membahagikan tugas mereka di pejabat dan menguruskan rumah tangga. Dari segi ekonomi, mereka terpaksa bekerja bagi membantu menambah pendapatan suami memandangkan perbelanjaan semakin bertambah. Justera itu, makalah ini membincangkan cara pengurusan wanita bekerja di tempat kerja dan juga pengurusan rumah tangga. Unit sampel adalah sebanyak 12 buah keluarga yang mempunyai tiga generasi perempuan dan pemilihan berdasarkan teknik snowball. Daripada 12 buah unit keluarga atau 36 responden, sebanyak tujuh orang responden yang pernah bekerja dan sembilan orang yang masih bekerja dipilih sebagai responden. Maklumat diperolehi melalui temu bual mendalam dengan responden. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa kaum wanita bekerja menghadapi masalah dalam
melakukan tugasan di rumah dan juga di tempat kerja. Mereka terpaksa memikul beban kerja yang banyak di rumah dan tidak mempunyai masa yang cukup untuk
melakukan semua kerja dalam satu masa termasuk menjaga anak-anak. Di tempat kerja pula, mereka menghadapi beberapa masalah seperti prosedur kenaikan pangkat yang tidak adil dan rakan sekerja yang mempunyai pelbagai ragam.

Working women often faced with the dilemma in dividing their responsibilities at the work place and managing the domestic task. From the economic aspect, they have to work in order to supplement their husband’s income due to the increase in the cost of living. Therefore, this article discusses the ways by which working women manage their responsibilities at the work place and also at home. Sampling unit is 12 families with three female generations and selection is done using the snowball technique. From the 12 families or 36 respondents, seven respondents was working previously and nine respondents are still working. Information is obtained using in-depth interviews. Findings showed that working women are faced with problems in doing the housework and also at the work
place. They have to bear with the heavy responsibilities at home and do not have sufficient time to do all the tasks at one time including taking care of their children. At the work place, they are faced with several problems such as an
unfair procedure of promotion and having peer groups with different characters.
