Abstract
This article is to address two manuscripts, i.e. ‘Hikayat Perang Setambul’ and ‘Hikayat Peperangan Al-Maulana Sultan Istanbul Yang Bernama Abdul Hamid Khan Ibni Al-Marhum Al-Maulana Abdul Majid Khan Ghazi Dengan Raja Rushin Yang Bernama Francis Alexander’. Both romances display the history of war taking place between Ottoman Empire and Russia. The writing of these romances points to plots of the war taking place, the war location and the position of the armies engaged. This article argues that the portrayal of the success of Ottoman Empire in the war shows the respect of the authors for the empire. The effort they have done obviously indicates their ability as a Malay author in outlining the history of war between Ottoman Empire and Russia which is to be considered in geographical respect they are far from the Malay World.Downloads
