Pemikiran Strategik Dasar Luar India: Dari Dasar Pandang Timur Ke Dasar Tindak Timur (Indian Foreign Policy Strategic Thinking: From Look East To Act East Policy)
Abstract
The rise of India as an economic power and the strategic measures tosustain economic growth has led to a transformation in India’s foreignpolicy from the Look East Policy to the Act East Policy. This newpolicy is seen as an approach taken by India to deal with the changingglobal scenario. Act East Policy focuses on building a strategy for thegrowth of economy, politics, security and defense of India, throughthe extension of relations with the countries of Southeast Asia andin East Asia. In2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced theAct East Policy, aimed to achieve India’s economic and geo-strategicinterests. Although both of these policies lead to better relationswith the countries in the eastern part of India, namely in SoutheastAsia and East Asia, these policies appearto bear some differencesand similarities. This article, will answer the question whether theAct East Policy is a new policy of India or the continuation of theexisting Look East Policy, or is it a mere political rhetoric of the newadministration.Downloads
