Abstract

Islamic world recognizes al-Mawardi's contribution in academic field. His thought on politics has been investigated by many Muslim scholars especially based on his work's al-Ahkam al-Sultaniyyah which has been translated in many world languages. However, al-Mawardi's contribution in Islamic judicial system is not fully assessed. In this paper an attempt is made to present al-Mawardi's works in Islamic judicial system with special reference to Adab al-Qadhi and al-Ahkam al-Sultaniyyah. The discussion is limited to his background as Qadi al-Quqah and his contributions in general.
