[ms] Guidelines for Women Television Preacher in Appearance based on The al-Qur’an

Abstract

Muslim women play an important role in missionary preaching, especially through the mass media such as television (TV). However, the analysis done on women preachers do not comply with the guidelines in Islam as in terms of appearance, speech and association. This is due to the absence of guidelines to guide Muslim women preachers. Thus, this research invatigate the guidelines for specific women preachers in terms of appearance according to the Qur’an. This study is a qualitative study using document analysis and observation as methods of data collection. This research, produces some guidelines for women preachers appearing on television. Thus, this study contributes to stakeholders such as Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM), and media and broadcasting units to improve existing guidelines.Keywords: Guideline; women preachers; television; appearanceDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17576/islamiyyat-2015-3701-06
