Isu pengajaran bahasa Inggeris dalam kalangan guru prasekolah, tanpa mempertimbangkan secara mencukupi pendekatan alternatif yang telah mereka laksanakan, memerlukan penyelidikan eksploratori terhadap amalan pengajaran mereka. Kajian kualitatif yang menggunakan reka bentuk kajian kes tunggal menggunakan pensampelan bertujuan dengan melibatkan 12 orang guru prasekolah akan meneroka amalan pelaksanaan pengajaran dan rasionalnya dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggeris di prasekolah Sarawak. Data kajian diperolehi melalui temu bual mendalam, pemerhatian kelas dan pemerhatian dokumen yang dibuat di 12 buah prasekolah yang mewakili bahagian selatan, tengah dan utara negeri Sarawak. Data dianalisis menggunakan perisian NVIVO 12 dan ini membawa kepada penemuan dua tema utama yang menjawab kepada objektif meneroka amalan pelaksanaan pengajaran bahasa Inggeris di prasekolah Sarawak iaitu; (1) pelaksanaan kaedah pengajaran bahasa Inggeris dan (2) pelaksanaan strategi pembelajaran bahasa Inggeris. Untuk menjamin kualiti serta ketepatan dapatan, kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan menggunakan ulasan rakan sekerja, semakan peserta kajian, jejak audit serta triangulasi antara kaedah. Implikasi daripada kajian ini memberi pembelajaran serta rujukan penting kepada agensi-agensi bertanggungjawab dalam mengenal pasti dan memahami situasi yang sebenarnya berlaku, kepercayaan guru dalam amalan pelaksanaan pengajarannya.Downloads
